Mark Twain once said, “the coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco.” And to be honest, after a July where temps have barely reached 70 degrees, I’m starting to agree.
As much as I’d love to break out my cute dresses and off the shoulder tops, I’m not the grin and bear it type, so I’ve left much of my summer wardrobe packed away. As a result, I’ve had to get a bit creative with my “summer” outfits this year, and have been relying heavily on my new favorite top — the short sleeve turtleneck.
This top is from Anthropologie, and is made of a warm and cozy knit, but the short sleeves help make it SF summer appropriate. Unfortunately, I bought this top on sale it’s no longer sold in stores, but I’ve linked some similar tops below in case you’re looking to pick one up.
For a casual, everyday look, I’ve paired this top with some simple black jeans, my favorite booties, and a dainty choker. But I’ve also been wearing this top to work by swapping the jeans and booties for a skirt and flats.
If you’re in the Bay Area, has this cool summer been getting you down? I for one am finding any excuse to take trips to warmer weather and am headed to Charleston in a few weeks and then hopefully Hawaii in early September!
